HAVING been associated with floriculture industry in Europe and Kenya and later with commercial rose projects in India since 1990, I feel proud that a stage has come when most of the promoters of floriculture projects abroad seek Indian technocrats, particularly Supervisors for their projects. Although the Indian floriculture has seen some ups and downs, one must not forget that growing Quality roses in adverse climatic conditions like India requires special skills and that is what has made Indian Floriculture an industry to reckon with.

Not only do the Indian products compete with most of the African flowers but have shown that they can be second to none and this has been established in Japanese and some European markets. Many promoters of floriculture projects abroad now prefer Indian Technocrats to Europeans, not only because of the cost but also their full time involvement in the projects. I personally feel proud when some established and reputed projects in Kenya, Zimbabwe and Nigeria approach me to help them by selecting India supervisors for their projects. One of the biggest projects in Kenya owned by an Indian has always preferred Indian technocrats for their dedication, Hard work, efficiency and know how for the last twenty years.

Preference for Indian supervisors outside India has made a new opening for younger generation for their better future. In fact I had always championed the cause for including green house technology with special reference to floriculture at the graduate and post graduate levels in different universities in India.

This will not only open new vistas for young graduates from India but also get an opportunity to show their skills better in more favorable cut flower growing areas in the world. By employing Indian technocrats their projects become more viable through low cost of production.
