WHAT is shade house ? When the cladding material used on a structure is a shade-net, the structure is called as Shade house. Normally the shade houses are used for propagation and maintenance of young plants in nurseries. The shade nets are available in different colors with different percentages of shades. Generally 30 per cent, 50 per cent and 75 pr cent shade nets are available and popular in the market. The colors available are green, white, silver, grey and black.
According to cost, shade house is classified as:
Low cost shade house
Medium cost shade house

(1) Low cost shade house :
In this type of shade house, total height of the shade house is 3 meters. This shade house requires wire ropes, turn buckles and Anchor bar. This shade house requires regular maintenance and is prone to damage by big cyclone. This is suitable for growing short height crops like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, parsely, coriander, chilly, brinjal, ladies finger, leeks, lettuce and spinach. This shade house sustains wind speed upto 80 km/hr.
Shade net : As per requirement of crop
Door : Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) sheet door with 1 m width and 2 m height. Box section frame is embedded inside for strength.
(2) Medium cost shade house :
In this shade house, total height of the shade house is 3 meters. The shade net is fitted with profile and spring. This is suitable for growing short height crops like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, parsely, coriander, chilly, brinjal, ladies finger, leeks, lettuce, spinach, etc. This shade house sustains wind speed upto 100 km/hr.

2. Spring Insert : Zigzag spring insert to fix shade net to Aluminum profile 2.3 mm diameter of spring wire and cold galvanization is applied on the wire. Wire material is high carbon steel with spring action.
3. Shade net : 50 per cent white or 50 per cent green at the top and sides of the shade house.
4. Door : Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) sheet door with 1 m width and 2 m height. Box section frame is embedded inside for the strength.
(3) High cost shade house :
In this shade house, the total height of the shade house is 4 meters and the shade net is fitted using profile and spring. This is suitable for growing climbing vegetables like tomato, colored capsicum, cucumber, bitter gourd, sponge gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin, etc. This shade house sustains wind speed upto 120 km/hr.
